Cryptocurrencies and Space Tourism
2021 has been a busy year for these emerging spaces.
The year 2021 has been an interesting ride so far. I admit to completely missing the boat on cryptocurrencies, and with the rise of billion dollar dog themed coins, is the rise of cat themed coins next? And how does space tourism plays into this?
The last two years have had space tourism on the minds of many a billionaire. The cost of a 10-minute space flight on your finances is one thing, but the real question is a specific mental image I can’t decouple from said experience. Imagine burning a million dollars just for the chance to see what a satellite can see from space. Another unpleasant thought is you very well might need adult diapers during the trip, as I remember one Red Bull video of a space skydive. Let’s dive back into cryptocurrencies once again.
I recently read a Medium post on someone who mined Ethereum on AWS. Why exactly AWS haven’t explicitly prohibited such actions is a topic of discussion. The logic might be that AWS is making money in any case, and the user is still on the hook if they make a profit or not. Normally, server operators find such abuses of their infrastructure negatively impacts all of their customers, but AWS must have a massive amount of raw resources that it doesn’t care.
And thus, we have our destination having covered crypto, space tourism, Amazon’s venture into both space and indirectly crypto, and what looks to be their next venture in electric delivery vehicles (Rivian).
