On September 1st, 2019 Amazon will be giving its US and UK FBA sellers a third option for unwanted inventory: donation. According to a news article by CNBC, prior to the announcement, sellers could ask for their unsold inventory be returned at a cost of $0.50 USD or request Amazon disposal for $0.15 USD. Disposal by land fill isn’t great overall, but the savings for the seller is hard to ignore.

This new donation option will distribute the surplus to a network on verified charities, who would then distribute to the masses.

A few of the mentioned charities are linked below if you’re curious.

The new direction Amazon is taking with unprofitable merchandise that is taking up space in their wearhouses might be due to the reporting summarized by the below video.
